Brett graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a focus on Economics. He received his juris doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2011.
In 2016, Brett joined the Coyle Law Firm in Oklahoma City, where he represents clients at trial and on appeal in state and federal criminal courts, as well as before professional licensing boards. He advocates for individuals and corporate clients who are witnesses, suspects, or targets in grand jury investigations. In addition, Brett represents clients in civil rights litigation against city, state and federal governments who violate a citizen’s constitutional rights. Brett has obtained numerous six and seven figure settlements for client who have suffered civil rights violations.
Brett passionately cares about his clients. He believes that the criminal defense justice system cannot work unless the accused has access to a criminal defense attorney that can stand up to the government and fight for the defendant’s constitutional rights.
A gifted trial lawyer, Brett has won cases in city, state and federal courts throughout Oklahoma. He began his career as a prosecutor with the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, handling cases involving every type of criminal offense from murder to petit larceny. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Brett spent years training in the intricacies and nuances of state and federal civil rights law.
Brett is a member of the Bar of the State of Oklahoma; the United State District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma; as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Oklahoma County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Brett currently site on the Federal Rules Committee for the Western District of Oklahoma. He is also a member of the Federal CJA panel in the Western District of Oklahoma.
Brett is married to Kirby Behenna, and together they have two young children.
